About 2,000 red-winged blackbirds, ducks, lost their lives in an area 1 mile from Beebe, Arkansas on Friday night. U.S. Environmental Services workers were wearing hazardous materials suits and gas masks, and they collected the dead birds on Sunday.
The area used by birds roost remained unchanged, leading officials to conclude that birds did not die of disease or poisoning has been assigned. Lightning, fireworks, high-grains have been presented as possible culprits.
